Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Department Manager, this position ensures efficient and effective patient access operations to support the department's delivery of high-quality patient care. This role contributes to departmental effectiveness by coordinating key front-end functions such as registration, scheduling, and insurance verification to promote a positive patient experience and accurate data capture. This role works under general supervision and exercises independent judgment within established policies and protocols.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:

  • Performs a wide variety of patient-facing duties to ensure excellent patient experience including but not limited to: appointment scheduling, registration, co-pay collection, visit management, collection of compliance and regulatory documents (written consent, ABN, etc.)
  • Ensures proper functioning of the department through completing tasks including: insurance verification, prior authorization, referral reconciliation, referral processing (urgent and routine) and manages work queues.
  • Collaborates with Contact Center Team to manage patient calls including: routing calls to the appropriate resource, making follow up outgoing calls to patients and responding to patient inquiries.
  • Communicates with patients across platforms including phone, text and MyChart.
  • Collaborates with providers and care team members (community health worker, social worker, nurse) to ensure patient form requests are completed timely.
  • Manages medical record requests from patients and outside organizations: scans external medical record documents into EHR per protocol.
  • Provides exceptional customer service to ensure and excellent patient experience
  • Perform other duties as needed.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Associates degree plus one year relevant experience or High School Diploma/GED plus three years relevant experience
  • Experience with electronic health record, registration & billing systems or ability to learn such systems.

Compensation Range:

$17.79- $25.00
