Job description

Title: Part-Time Paralegal

Reports to: Leslie A. Erwin

Supervises Staff: No

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Hourly)

Description:
Our law firm is growing, and we are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Part-Time Paralegal to support our probate, estate planning, business, and property law practice areas. This position offers an excellent opportunity for someone looking to grow within a collaborative legal environment, including candidates who are entry-level, have 1–3 years of experience, or are currently completing a paralegal certificate or degree program.

The ideal candidate will assist attorneys with drafting legal documents, managing client files, communicating with clients, preparing probate filings, and supporting day-to-day legal operations. We are looking for someone who is organized, professional, eager to learn, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of attention to detail and client service.

This is an in-office position. The anticipated schedule is approximately 25–30 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with potential for the role to transition into a full-time position in the future. Candidates must be available to begin employment within two weeks of accepting an offer.

Responsibilities:

· Assist attorneys with probate, estate planning, business, and property law matters.

· Draft and prepare legal documents including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, deeds, probate pleadings, correspondence, and business formation documents.

· Organize and maintain physical and electronic client files.

· Communicate professionally with clients, courts, and third parties regarding case status and document collection.

· Assist with probate and estate administration filings and deadlines.

· Coordinate appointments, document execution, and case follow-up.

· Conduct basic legal and public records research as needed.

· Manage deadlines and ensure timely completion of assigned tasks.

· Provide administrative and legal support to attorneys and office staff.

· Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

The right candidate meets all the following qualifications:

· Paralegal certificate or degree preferred, but not required.

· Entry-level candidates, candidates with 1–3 years of experience, or individuals currently completing a paralegal program are encouraged to apply.

· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.

· Professional demeanor and strong client service skills.

· Ability to work independently and within a team environment.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer applications.

· Experience in probate, estate planning, business law, or property law is a plus, but not required.

· Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in sensitive matters.

Physical Requirements:

· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

· Must be able to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
