Job Summary and Description
Teaching faculty are professional educators who have the primary responsibility of fulfilling the District mission of providing a quality education for all students attending the colleges. Categories include full-time, temporary with benefits, and temporary without benefits. Full-time faculty members are classified according to the ranks of Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor. Faculty members are responsible to a department/program chairperson. The relationship of the faculty member to the student is one of leader, teacher, advisor, and facilitator of learning. Faculty members will uphold the mission and values of the colleges' and foster effective working relationships with students and colleagues.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience:
  • Master's degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Corrections, Justice Administration, Criminal Justice Data Analytics (CJDA), or Juris Doctorate with a specialty in criminal law, or a Masters degree in another field with at least 18 hours post-graduate studies in the criminal justice discipline.
  • Three (3) years of work experience in the criminal justice field.
  • Must submit a cover letter and unofficial transcripts demonstrating minimum education qualification.
  • Willingness to teach in person, online, at night, and on weekends, as required.
  • Willingness to be trained in online teaching certification, or able to present credentials demonstrating certification in online teaching.
  • Willingness to meet with students outside of class by appointment to discuss courses.

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of forensic science principles,crime scene processing, and the proper collection, handling, and preservationof physical evidence.
  • Resides in San Antonio or the greater Metropolitan San Antonio Area and is willing to commute to campus to teach in-person courses.
  • A commitment to excellence in teaching.
  • Ph.D. in any of the sub-disciplines of Criminal Justice listed above, with a minimum of three (3) years of work experience in the criminal justice field.
  • Experience as a college instructor and a commitment to excellence in teaching.
  • A background in statistical analysis, or data analytics.
  • Experience working with Criminal Justice data analytics on crime prediction, prevention, and/or parole/probation risk analysis, or certificate in data analytics with a focus on criminal justice.
  • Experience with or willingness to teach hybrid, online asynchronous, remote synchronous, or Hy-flex (i.e. face-to-face, online asynchronous, and remote synchronous simultaneously).
  • Certificate in online teaching issued from an accredited institution of higher education.
  • QM APPQMRCertificate for 7th edition or higher.
