Job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Part-Time Bookkeeper to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, reconciling accounts, and supporting various accounting functions. This role offers an opportunity to work with an organization that values precision and professionalism. The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of accounting principles, bookkeeping skills and proficiency with relevant financial software.

Duties

  • Manage and maintain the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data
  • Perform bank reconciliations and account reconciliations regularly to ensure consistency across financial statements
  • Prepare journal entries, including debits & credits, to record financial transactions in accordance with GAAP standards
  • Generate financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and other management reports
  • Utilize accounting software QuickBooks to streamline bookkeeping processes
  • Ensure compliance with governmental accounting standards and non-profit accounting requirements as applicable
  • Provide general office support and facilitate communication with stakeholders, parishioners and vendors
  • Complete miscellaneous tasks assigned.
  • Prepare 941s, 10-99s and W2 for filings

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles, preferably within non-profit sectors
  • Strong proficiency with accounting software including QuickBooks, Microsoft Office applications, Word, Excel,
  • Knowledge of GAAP standards, double entry bookkeeping, journal entries, and general ledger reconciliation
  • Familiarity with financial concepts such as budgeting, account analysis, and financial report writing
  • Ability to perform bank reconciliations and account reconciliation accurately
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Strong understanding of debits & credits, journal entries, and tax-related procedures
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and external auditors if necessary
