What is a part time non clinical RN?

A Part Time Non Clinical RN is a registered nurse who works part time in roles that do not involve direct patient care. Instead of bedside nursing, these positions may include responsibilities such as case management, telephone triage, health education, quality assurance, research, or administrative duties. Non-clinical RNs use their nursing knowledge in support roles to improve patient outcomes, develop policies, or provide healthcare guidance. These positions are ideal for nurses seeking flexibility and alternative ways to utilize their expertise outside of traditional patient care settings.

What are the typical responsibilities of a part time non clinical RN and how do these differ from traditional bedside nursing roles?

Part Time Non Clinical RNs often focus on roles such as case management, patient education, quality improvement, telephone triage, or administrative support rather than direct patient care. Their daily tasks may include reviewing patient records, coordinating care plans, providing health coaching, or ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and strong communication skills are essential, as the role often involves working with physicians, social workers, and administrative staff. Compared to bedside nursing, these positions usually offer more predictable hours and less physical demand, which can be appealing to those seeking work-life balance.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time non clinical RN, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time Non Clinical RN, you need an active RN license, strong clinical knowledge, and often experience in healthcare education, case management, or quality assurance. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHRs), care coordination platforms, and compliance or auditing systems is typically required. Exceptional communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail set candidates apart in these roles. These abilities are vital for ensuring regulatory compliance, effective patient education, and seamless coordination across healthcare teams without direct bedside care.

Job description

Private Duty Nurse (RN/LPN) – 1:1 Home Care

Centria Healthcare is seeking a dedicated RN or LPN to join a collaborative care team for an adult client in Clio. This isn't just a nursing shift; it's an opportunity to work within a beautiful home with a very kind, welcoming family who truly values their care team. To ensure the highest level of safety and support, this case also features a Home Health Aide (HHA) on-site to assist you with daily tasks.

The Case: Sophisticated Care in a Premier Setting

You will be caring for an adult client with quadriplegia who requires a clinical expert with a gentle, patient touch.

  • A Collaborative Environment: Work alongside a kind family and a dedicated Home Health Aide who provides additional support for the client's needs.
  • Advanced Technology: Utilize a state-of-the-art ceiling-track lift system for seamless transfers between the home gym, bedroom, and bathroom.
  • Specialized Clinical Focus: Manage wound care, a specific bowel program, and catheter care.
  • Cognitive & Sensory Support: Provide vital support for the client's short-term memory loss and hearing impairment. This requires a nurse who is exceptionally patient, calm, and professional.
  • Safety-First Approach: Because the client is at a high risk for falls, we need a "quietly vigilant" nurse—one who stays alert and attentive to safety without "hovering" or encroaching on the client's independence.
  • Community Access: Accompany the client to appointments by driving the family vehicle.
  • Pet-Friendly Home: Must be comfortable with two large, friendly dogs who are part of the family.

Responsibilities
  • Provide skilled nursing care (trach/vent care, medication administration, catheter care).
  • Monitor and document vital signs and patient condition.
  • Coordinate with the HHA and family to assist with ADLs, including dressing and meal prep.
  • Maintain a safe, high-quality, patient-centered environment.
Schedule & Pay
  • Flexible Shifts: Full-time or part-time available
  • Competitive Pay: Based on experience.
  • Benefits: Weekly pay + optional daily pay; Health benefits and Sick Time for eligible employees

Why Work at Centria?
  • 1:1 Patient Care: Dedicated time to focus on one patient's success.
  • Comprehensive Training: Paid training and shadow shifts (Trach/Vent training provided).
  • 24/7 Support: You always have a clinical lead a phone call away.
  • Beautiful Work Setting: Work in a clean, high-end, and appreciative household.
Qualifications
  • Active RN or LPN license in Michigan.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Strong communication skills and a calm, patient temperament.
  • Home care experience is a plus, but not required.
