Summary

kidSTREAM, an emerging Children’s Museum, is seeking part-time Museum Educators to deliver engaging, play-based learning experiences for children and families. Working under the guidance of the Education Supervisor, this role engages guests on the museum floor, and facilitates hands-on STREAM (Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, and Math) programming both at the museum and at off-site outreach events. Museum Educators create a welcoming, inclusive environment for families that inspires curiosity and joyful learning. Ideal candidates are enthusiastic communicators with a passion for informal education and a commitment to excellent customer service.


Key Responsibilities

  • Engage daily visitors and facilitate positive, meaningful learning experiences during normal operating hours
  • Facilitate play-based educational programs including drop-in activities, workshops, field trips, birthday parties, camps, special events, and off-site outreach
  • Adapt program content and facilitation style to meet diverse ages, abilities, and learning styles
  • Assist with program setup, materials preparation, and clean-up
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe spaces
  • Collaborate with teammates and support volunteers during program delivery
  • Provide excellent customer service as a representative of kidSTREAM
  • Participate in trainings, meetings, and professional development





Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience facilitating educational programs for children and families in informal learning environments such as museums, schools, camps, or community-based organizations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse audiences
  • Ability to maintain focus and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a background check required



Preferred Skills

  • Current or pending degree in Education, Child Development, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of play-based, inquiry-driven, and experiential learning approaches
  • Experience working with children, or customer centered environments
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) applicants are strongly encouraged to apply
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and assist with program setup and takedown
