Job description

Job Summary Under general supervision, this position is a regular, part-time position providing administrative and operational support to the Foley Railroad Museum. Greets guests and manages gift shop. Prepares daily deposits, orders supplies, and works with event train drivers and Caboose Club volunteers.

Schedules group visits and keeps the Museums Manager informed of activities at the Museum. Reports to the Museums Manager. Essential Functions Welcomes visitors to the Railroad Museum, describes opportunities available at the train venue and answers tourist's questions about Foley.

Provides general administrative support to the Museums Manager and in support of general operations at the Railroad Museum. Opens and closes the museum, including unlocking doors and restrooms of the facility. Manages gift shop, keeping it stocked and organized.

Opens, closes, and balances the gift shop cash register daily. Prepares daily deposits and prepares monthly report to the Marketing Director and to the Finance Division. Responsible for petty cash and maintaining change for gift shop.

Collects donations from the Model Trains, Event Train and Railroad Museum donation box and makes deposit. Schedules volunteer train drivers, distributes schedule, and coordinates requested days off. Coordinates training for new train drivers.

Communicates with the Public Works Maintenance Department for needed train repairs. Schedules and organizes Railroad Museum group tours, coordinating with Caboose Club members and event train drivers as needed. Refers to desk manual(s), marketing materials, personnel policies, various policies of the City, ordinances and resolutions, etc.

Utilizes a variety of computer software to include Incode, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, the internet, email, etc. Interacts and communicates with a variety of groups and individuals to include city employees and the public. Operates a variety of machinery and/or equipment such as a phone, copier, scanner, fax machine, company vehicle, etc.

May lead, guide and direct the work of volunteers as needed. Performs other duties as assigned. Education and Experience High School Diploma or its equivalent and one (1) year of experience in a job related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Successful applicants must have a valid driver's license and pass a criminal background check (including driving record) and a pre-employment physical.
