Job:
Graduate AssistantMovement Lab
To assist the Associate Director and Coordinator with the operational logistics of running the movement Lab. To field emails, schedule hours, manage calendar.
The Graduate Assistants will also engage in co-curricular programmatic support. Assisting the Associate Director and Coordinator by inputting creative insights, best practices and knowledge related to their field of study.
Job Description:
Daily operations and creative engagement: The GA's will:
  • Provide student facing support for the Movement Lab in both operational and non-standard hours. The Movement Lab, engages in non-standard hours by way of rehearsal and technical support, not only for individuals but for groups of artists and students and their collaborators throughout the year but particularly in peak end/beginning semester periods. The Graduate assistants will be engaged (as their hours allow) in supporting the efficiencies requisite to that programming.
  • Assist the Associate Director and Coordinator in the training of lab use and its technologies for new lab users.
  • Engage in a horizontal structure approach to planning and problem-solving, bringing their creative insights and interests into a shared process of imagining the Lab's themes of investigation, cohorts of artists and the projects they offer. The lab is predicated on 'Thinking Creativity,' - under constraint. We require candidates who articulate what they are inspired by, and allow them to turn that into creative practice and artistic projects. -Strong preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate collaborative skills, and who are engaged in arts, technology, media, experimentations.

Instructional and curricular support:
  • Assist with workshops and production needs for Student Artists and Artists, as well as class support when needed. This will include, collaboration with the Associate director and Coordinator in calendar booking, use and maintenance of space, and web updating requests.
  • Assist in communications tasks including social media posts, event flyer printing and posting, newsletter content.

Skills, Qualifications & Requirements:
Knowledge, skills and Abilities.
  • Ability to work in a horizontally structured team. In a creative exploratory environment. The ability to multi-task, particularly near semester ends when production workloads and non-standard hours of engagement intensify.
  • Good Interpersonal and oral skills.
  • Understanding of emerging technologies as related to creative practice.

Required qualification:
  • Bachelor's degree. Enrollment in a Graduate Program that can contribute to the Lab's particular areas of artistic and technological engagement.
  • Demonstrated experience in Emerging Technology and Creative practice and/or Arts Management. Working with groups in artistic/performing/spatial arts practice.
  • Experience working in higher education.

Interact with students, staff and workshop leaders in a collaborative manner.
Understand and be willing to engage with the needs of experimental laboratory work in the arts and sciences as relates to the study of human movement, as well as film and theatrical production, which may require non standard hours of engagement.
Reference and be aware of best practices within the field and to assist in translating these into practice in the lab. Understand broadly, and be willing to engage with cross disciplinary purposing of technology, artistic practice, and scientific investigation as relates to human movement and cognition.
Have an understanding of workflow and time management and the skills in any software required to facilitate this effectively.
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the College's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
