Hourly rate will be determined based on market rate, experience and discipline.
This is a Part-Time Instructor Pool in our Continuing Education Workforce Development (CEWD) department for available assignments during the academic year. Applications are considered throughout the academic year and reviewed based on departmental needs. Requires flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which may include working days, evenings and/or weekends.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
SUMMARY
The instructor will teach a variety of Microsoft certificate courses and provide quality instruction in a safe environment to students in accordance with Alvin College policies and procedures. This position requires the individual to follow the current course outlines, objectives, evaluate student competencies and maintain safety procedures within the classroom. The instructor constantly evaluates their effectiveness in the classroom by helping students obtain course learning outcomes and the impact that they have on student retention. The ideal candidate will hold multiple industry certifications and have practical experience teaching adult learners in both corporate and academic settings. This role requires expertise in Microsoft 365 and other Microsoft certifications with a focus on workforce readiness and career advancement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develops curriculum for short-term certificates and customized corporate training.
  • Adapts teaching methods for diverse learners (entry-level to upskilling professionals).
  • Maintains hands-on labs and real-world project-based learning environments.
  • Guides students in certification exam preparation and portfolio development.
  • Collaborates with employers to align training with industry needs.
  • Adheres to Alvin Community College's policies and procedures.
  • Attends institutional meetings as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The incumbent typically will work online or a hybrid modality (virtual instruction).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, or hear; frequently required to use repetitive hand motion, handle or feel, and to stand, walk, reach, bend or lift up to twenty (20) pounds.
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Three (3) or more years of combined industry and teaching experience
  • Active certifications in at least two of the following areas: Microsoft: MCT, MCSE, MCSA, MOS Expert for Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access; Power Platform, or Azure

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Basic computer proficiency using Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Basic proficiency in online tools such as Blackboard
  • The instructor will frequently perform autonomously and must be self-motivated
  • Will be required to proceed with independent actions with mutually established guidelines and minimal supervision from the CEWD Director
  • Must be flexible with the ability to workdays, nights, and/or weekends with the understanding that available hours will be based on the needs of the program not to exceed 19 hours per week
  • Must be flexible and understands a minimum number of hours is not guaranteed and that classes may be cancelled and/or rescheduled with minimal notice due to student need, student enrollment and/or program needs

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in business, IT, or related field
  • Experience with grant-funded workforce programs
  • Background in corporate training or career coaching
  • Bilingual English/Spanish
