Job Description Summary & Additional Information
Organization's Summary Statement:
The University Health Center is actively looking to hire contractual registered nurses part-time. This on-site position reports to the Health Center in College Park. Utilizes nursing skills and knowledge to provide general nursing care that meets the needs of patients and health providers. This position is considered essential for health-related campus emergencies.
EXAMPLES OF WORK:
• Administer treatment in accordance with Physicians' instruction or policies, procedures and protocols.
• Assess and evaluate patient issues and respond appropriately based on health care protocols and standards of nursing practice for
normal, abnormal, emergent, and/or life-threatening situations.
• Maintain appropriate level of nursing skills including but not limited to injections, patient assessment
• and diagnostic techniques.
• Utilize knowledge of coding rules to accurately document care in the electronic medical record.
• Other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use fine motor skills, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision ability required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, there is a risk of exposure to communicable diseases.
Preferences: Able to work part-time hours Monday through Friday 8am -5pm

Licensed with the Maryland State Board of Nurses.
CPR Certified

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Licensed with the Maryland State Board of Nurses.
Experience: Three (3) years of experience practicing nursing.
Licensure: Maintain Maryland State Board of Nursing licensure and CPR certification for the duration of employment.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Knowledge of patient assessment, education, treatments, and related factors.
Knowledge of medical coding and electronic record systems.
Skill in oral and written communication.
Skill in the use of Microsoft Office and Google Suite products.
Ability to perform appropriate nursing care based on standard nursing practice.
Ability to chart patients' medical concerns and nursing care given.
Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions from medical staff pertaining to patient care.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical
procedures, or government regulations.
Ability to multitask while demonstrating a commitment to customer service.
