Their duties include taking patient vital signs, updating medical records, preparing examination rooms, and performing basic clinical or administrative tasks. Working part time allows for flexible scheduling, making it an ideal option for students, parents, or those seeking a better work-life balance. Part-time medical assistants may handle administrative or clinical duties. As a part-time medical assistant, you may greet patients when they first arrive, ensure patient forms are filled out correctly, answer phone calls, and schedule appointments. In the exam rooms, part-time medical assistants may take vital signs, describe procedures, change wound dressings, administer medication or vaccinations, submit prescriptions, document results from patient sample testing, and prepare the beds for the next patient.
