Description
The Lawrence Herbert School of Communication at Hofstra University invites applicants to apply for an adjunct faculty position in the Department of Journalism, Media Studies, and Public Relations to teach courses focused on diversity and equity in the media, children's media, media history, law and ethics, emerging technologies, global communication, and/or other related courses.
The preferred candidate for adjunct professor, mass media studies, will have:
  • Experience teaching in higher education.
  • An exceptional understanding of media theory, media research, media history, and media literacy.
  • Expertise and/or a background in children's media, critical feminist pedagogy, diversity and equity in media, and/or global communication.
  • Flexibility regarding a teaching schedule.

Qualifications
  • An earned doctorate (Ph.D. or equivalent) or a master's degree in media and communication or a related field.
  • Successful candidates will have demonstrated a commitment to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion in an educational environment.
  • Candidates must be available to begin teaching in the spring 2025 semester.

Hofstra University provides the above salary* as a good faith estimate of the starting pay range which considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and education.
