Medical Scribe
Foothills Infectious Disease Medical Group is a well-established specialty group located in the East San Gabriel Valley of Southern California. We manage a diverse array of infectious disease conditions and offer OPAT infusion services to a large geographical area. We are currently looking for an experienced, part time Medical Scribe to join our team in our pursuit of performing exceptional patient care. This position requires a high degree of scheduling flexibility in order to accommodate the physicianโs individual patient appointment calendar.
The Medical Scribe position provides the opportunity to work first hand with our individual physicians. The core responsibility of the Scribe is to capture accurate and detailed documentation, electronically, in the EHR, at the direction of the provider.
Duties Include:
ยท Assist the physician in creating the highest level of efficiency and productivity in documenting patient visits. This would include, in-person visits, โtelemedโ visits and telephone visits
ยท Enter data into patientโs electronic record accurately, while reviewing and referring to other documents in the patientโs chart
ยท Transcribe patient histories and vital signs
ยท Document clinical assessment, medications, allergies, and complete SOAP notes as described by physician, for each patient encounter
ยท Assisting in the management of lab order entry and electronic medication prescribing and refills
ยท Other duties as assigned by Practice Manager and Physician(s)
Qualifications and Experience
ยท Medical Student or graduate of an accredited Medical School, strongly preferred; OR
ยท Medical Scribe Certification, preferred
ยท High school diploma or GED certificate, REQUIRED
ยท In-depth knowledge of Medical Terminology
ยท Minimum six months experience as a medical scribe, preferred
ยท Working knowledge of EHR systems, especially Office Ally, preferred
ยท Highly proficient computer and typing skills
ยท Typing speed 50-60 wpm
Bilingual Spanish, a plus
ยท Language skills adequate for high-level written and interpersonal communication in English
ยท Ability to proofread for accuracy and possess grammatical expertise
ยท Cooperative work attitude toward co-workers, management, patients, visitors, and physicians
ยท Work productively in a fast paced environment
ยท Ability to promote favorable clinic image with physicians, patients, and general public
Environmental/Working Conditions:
Customary medical business office environment.
Physical Demands:
Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office environment. Manual dexterity needed for using a computer keyboard and other standard office equipment.

Requirements:
- Exceptional Typing Skills-(50-60 wpm)
- Advanced proficiency in Grammar, spelling, punctuation and medical terminology
- Knowledge of utilizing electronic medical records programs. (Office Ally preferred)
- Advanced computer and medical office technolology experience
- Ability to work closely and professionally with physicians, patients and medical office staff
- Must possess a strong attention and diligence to HIPAA guidelines and patient confidentiality
- Must be able to allow for flexible scheduling
- Reliability is expected
