Job Description About the Role Our client is seeking a detail-oriented individual to support contractor payroll through settlement accounting. This position focuses on auditing and processing independent contractor settlements rather than traditional employee payroll. The ideal candidate is organized, accurate, and possesses strong critical thinking skills to identify discrepancies and resolve issues throughout the settlement process.

Key Responsibilities Process payroll for independent contractors through settlement accounting. Input, review, and audit settlement information for accuracy. Communicate with contractors and internal teams primarily through email to clarify discrepancies and answer questions.

Review contractor deductions, including equipment leases, escrow accounts, fuel deductions, insurance, permitting, and other operational expenses. Manually calculate deductions when system-generated information requires adjustment. Audit fuel card invoices against contractor settlements.

Identify discrepancies and research missing or inaccurate information before approving settlements. Provide coverage for company payroll processing, including timecard processing, when needed. Support payroll processing during peak settlement days, primarily Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Requirements Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to recognize discrepancies and resolve issues. Strong math skills or an accounting background. Organized, detail-oriented, accurate, and reliable.

Comfortable performing repetitive work while maintaining accuracy. Experience is not required but would be beneficial. Preferred Accounting coursework or accounting clerk experience.

Logistics, freight billing, or transportation industry experience. Administrative experience in banking, medical billing, or insurance. Experience with reconciliations, discrepancy resolution, auditing, claims processing, chargebacks, contract review, freight tracking, logistics coordination, or carrier settlements.
