Job description

A career opportunity for a Blind Low Vision Teacher is available within our client's school district in Indianapolis, Indiana. This role involves working with students who are blind or visually impaired to support their academic, social, and functional development. The position is onsite, during the upcoming school year, starting August 6, 2026, with an end date planned for May 27, 2027. The schedule and hours are aligned with the school calendar to provide essential specialized instruction and support to students.

Location: Indianapolis, Indiana, onsite, 40 hours per week
School Year: 2026-2027

Blind Low Vision Teacher Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver tailored instructional plans focusing on Braille literacy, tactile graphics, and math via Nemeth Code.
  • Incorporate adaptive tools and assistive technology training to enhance learning engagement.
  • Teach daily living, organization, and self-advocacy skills to promote independence.
  • Collaborate with other professionals to modify classroom environments and materials for accessibility.
  • Participate actively in IEP meetings, advocating for student needs and progress.

Blind Low Vision Teacher Qualifications:

  • Valid teaching certification or licensure for visually impaired education.
  • Proven experience working with students who have visual impairments.
