Maintenance Technician - Part-Time
Job Description:
Responsible for the overall general maintenance of city owned facilities. Perform parking structure cleaning and maintenance.
About the Position:
Maintenance Technicians play a crucial role in maintaining city owned facilities. Performs parking structure cleaning and maintenance.
Part-time scheduled work hours will be between 7:30 am - 4:00 pm, Monday - Friday. This position will be scheduled to work a minimum of 20 hours per week/no more than 28 hours a week.

About the Team:
The Public Services Facilities Division is an internal service that provides maintenance and repairs to City buildings such as City Hall, the Sorenson Unity Center, Smith's Ballpark, and fire stations. Applicants for roles within the Facilities Division can expect to directly provide or support the skilled trades and maintenance of the City's facilities to keep this important infrastructure running smoothly for its occupants.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Performs a variety of duties required to maintain City-owned facilities, including cleaning, picking up trash, cleaning up leaves, clearing sidewalks, and removing debris. Assists with facilities-related maintenance and inspections.
  • Operates various types of handheld and light mechanical equipment including sweepers, blowers, and other maintenance equipment.
  • Operates various types of vehicles, and equipment necessary to successfully complete assigned tasks. Responsible for preventive maintenance, minor repairs, and adjustment of equipment to ensure proper operation and safe efficient use.
  • Assist in the proper mixing and use of chemicals used for cleaning of maintained areas.
  • Inspects and cleans areas where unauthorized camping has occurred to make presentable for all to use. May work with County Health Department and other City staff to clear areas occupied by person's experiencing homelessness.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Ability to get to various facilities. Operation of a city vehicle with a valid driver's license or driving privilege card.
  • Must be at least 16 years of age.

DESIRED QUALIFICATION:
  • Experience in maintenance.
  • Experience operating light or heavy-duty equipment

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Moderately heavy physical activity required to push, pull or lift medium weights up to 50lbs and on occasion up to 80lbs. Required to stand, walk or sit uncomfortably for extended periods. Exposure to weather extremes, noise, dust, fumes, etc. are routine.
  • Intermittent exposure to stress as a result of human behavior
