Part-Time Lower School Coverage Teacher - Job Announcement
LREI (Little Red School House & Elisabeth Irwin High School) seeks part-time Lower School Coverage Teachers to support our community of students and teachers on a daily basis. Candidates with diverse experiences are encouraged to apply. The Lower School serves students from age four through 4th grade, with a broad range of learning styles, identities and passions.
Overview of the position:
Part-time Coverage Teachers are important members of our community who supervise our students through midday routines like lunch and rest. Responsibilities vary by assignment, and may include but are not limited to: lunch and rest setup, lunch service in classrooms, classroom management, rest supervision, recess duties, and additional classroom support. A Coverage Teacher's assigned responsibilities may change at any time given the needs of the division, as directed by the Assistant Principal and/or Principal. Coverage Teachers work nearly all school days, and do not work during school breaks. Coverage teachers may have the possibility of adding additional, occasional hours (maximum 30 total hours per week) as a Substitute Teacher. Coverage teachers are paid on an hourly basis at $22/hr. The available positions are in either our Fours (pre-K) or Kindergarten classrooms from 11:45am to 2:00pm, Monday through Friday. The LREI school year runs from early September until early June, and Coverage Teachers are expected to commit to the full year.

LREI Coverage Teacher candidates must:
  • demonstrate flexibility and willingness to take on whatever tasks they are asked to do
  • work collaboratively with all teachers and other colleagues at LREI, asking for help when needed and acclimating quickly to the school's routines and norms
  • have successful experience working with children in a group setting
  • be punctual, reliable, communicative, manage time effectively and autonomously navigate their daily schedule
  • move safely with groups of children through the building (including the use of stairs), to nearby parks and playgrounds, and other nearby locations as needed
  • spend time outside in most mild weather conditions
  • be responsive to scheduling communications including both last minute requests and long-term planning
    Pay Rate: $22 per hour
