Job description

Part-Time Optometrist (OD) | Chicago, Illinois | $900 Per Visit

Location: Chicago, Illinois Schedule: 1 to 4 days per month (Weekdays) Compensation: $900 per visit Position Type: Independent Contractor (1099)

About The Opportunity

Comprehensive Mobile Care (CMC) is seeking a Part-Time Optometrist (OD) to provide care in a structured, outpatient clinic-based environment in Chicago, Illinois.

This is a clinic-based role where you'll function as an extension of the clinical team within a coordinated, community-focused setting serving senior populations. You'll walk into a fully equipped exam space with patients already scheduled, support staff already in place, and zero administrative work waiting for you afterward.

If you're looking for meaningful, mission-driven work with schedule consistency, without the overhead and administrative burden of running your own practice, this opportunity offers real flexibility and genuine professional support. It's an ideal fit for an optometrist looking to supplement an existing practice, step away from the retail grind, ease into semi-retirement, or simply do rewarding clinical work on their own terms.

The Setting

This opportunity operates within a community-based outpatient clinic model, not a retail chain or pop-up setup.

  • Clinic staff are on-site full time
  • Organized scheduling and consistent patient flow
  • Coordinated, team-based care environment
  • Value-based model focused on seniors

We manage equipment, supplies, scheduling, and billing logistics, allowing you to focus entirely on delivering high-quality vision care. You bring your clinical expertise. We handle everything else.

What You'll Do
  • Perform comprehensive eye exams and vision assessments
  • Diagnose and manage common ocular conditions within your scope of practice
  • Prescribe corrective lenses and provide appropriate treatment recommendations
  • Collaborate with clinic staff as part of an integrated care team
  • Deliver patient-centered care in a structured outpatient setting
  • Build ongoing relationships with a consistent patient population who genuinely appreciate your care
What Makes This Different

This is not a high-volume retail model, and there are no sales quotas attached to your exam chair.

Our optometrists are integrated into established clinic environments and represent Comprehensive Mobile Care directly within each partner location. Many of the patients you'll serve have gone years without a proper eye exam, and the impact you make is immediate and visible.

We emphasize:

  • Quality over volume
  • Consistency and predictability
  • Administrative and logistical support
  • Long-term clinic partnerships
  • Ethical, mission-driven healthcare delivery
Compensation
  • $900 per visit, paid as a 1099 independent contractor
  • Predictable, transparent pay with no production quotas or sales metrics
  • No overhead, no staffing costs, no frame board to manage
Qualifications
  • Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited program
  • Bilingual proficiency is a plus
  • Active Illinois optometry license
  • Experience treating senior populations preferred
  • Strong clinical judgment and patient communication skills
  • Comfortable practicing in outpatient clinic environments
Schedule
  • 1 day per month, based on your availability
  • Typical hours: standard daytime clinic hours
  • No nights
  • No weekends
  • No on-call
  • No billing or administrative responsibilities
