Position Summary

Modern Expo, Events & Exhibits is seeking a dependable, hardworking, and versatile Part-Time Warehouse Operations Associate to join our Operations team. This position provides essential support across warehouse operations, transportation, freight coordination, inventory management, equipment readiness, and facility support.

This role serves as a flexible operational resource that helps keep warehouse and event operations running efficiently by performing deliveries, supporting inventory accuracy, coordinating freight, maintaining warehouse organization, assisting with equipment preparation, and responding to changing operational priorities.

No two days look exactly the same. One day may be spent receiving freight and preparing inventory, while another may involve transporting event materials, assisting with warehouse projects, performing equipment maintenance, or supporting production teams with event logistics.

The ideal candidate enjoys staying busy, takes pride in organization, is mechanically inclined, and enjoys solving problems while supporting multiple departments across the company.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Warehouse Operations

  • Support daily warehouse operations and facility readiness.
  • Pull, stage, prep, organize, and return rental inventory and event materials.
  • Load and unload trucks, trailers, freight, and deliveries.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and efficient warehouse spaces.
  • Organize inventory storage locations and warehouse work areas.
  • Prepare equipment and rental inventory for upcoming events.
  • Assist with warehouse improvement projects and operational efficiency initiatives.
  • Support warehouse workflow and organization across multiple departments.

Transportation & Runner Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled deliveries between warehouses, venues, vendors, job sites, and suppliers.
  • Transport event materials, freight, graphics, equipment, supplies, and time-sensitive operational items.
  • Pick up and deliver urgent show-related materials.
  • Support cross-department transportation and logistics needs.
  • Operate company vehicles safely and professionally.
  • Maintain cleanliness and readiness of assigned company vehicles.
  • Represent Modern professionally while interacting with clients, vendors, venues, and partners.

Freight & Inventory Management

  • Receive, inspect, verify, document, label, and organize inbound shipments.
  • Assist with outbound freight preparation and shipping.
  • Verify packing slips and shipping documentation.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and warehouse organization.
  • Assist with inventory counts, audits, reconciliations, and cycle counts.
  • Report damaged, missing, or low-stock inventory to leadership.
  • Support barcode labeling and asset identification.
  • Ensure rental inventory is properly returned, inspected, and stored.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate warehouse inventory systems.
  • Support Salesforce and inventory system updates as required.

Client-Owned Inventory Stewardship

  • Assist in the management, organization, tracking, and protection of client-owned inventory stored within Modern's warehouse.
  • Ensure client assets are accurately labeled, stored, maintained, and prepared for scheduled events.
  • Report inventory discrepancies, damage, shortages, or maintenance concerns promptly.
  • Support inventory scheduling and staging to ensure client assets are event-ready.

Equipment & Fleet Support

  • Perform routine inspections of warehouse equipment and operational tools.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance on warehouse equipment.
  • Complete basic mechanical repairs when qualified.
  • Identify equipment requiring maintenance or repair.
  • Maintain equipment cleanliness and organization.
  • Assist with fleet readiness and operational equipment preparation.
  • Support equipment maintenance documentation and reporting.

Facility Support

During slower operational periods, this position supports warehouse and facility maintenance to ensure a clean, safe, and efficient work environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Warehouse cleaning and organization.
  • Trash removal and workspace upkeep.
  • Warehouse organization projects.
  • Minor building repairs and maintenance.
  • Equipment organization.
  • Exterior facility maintenance.
  • Seasonal snow removal and ice mitigation.
  • Maintaining safe working conditions throughout warehouse facilities.

Event Operations Support

  • Assist warehouse, production, and operations teams with special projects.
  • Support event load-ins and load-outs as business demands require.
  • Prepare materials and equipment for upcoming productions.
  • Provide operational support wherever additional manpower is needed.
  • Assist departments with miscellaneous operational tasks that contribute to successful event execution.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous warehouse, logistics, transportation, inventory, moving, or event industry experience preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required.
  • Ability to safely operate company vehicles.
  • Forklift certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
  • Basic computer skills and willingness to learn inventory software.
  • Mechanically inclined with the ability to perform minor equipment repairs and preventative maintenance preferred.

Work Schedule

This is a flexible part-time position supporting warehouse operations and event production.

Typical schedule is Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, however additional weekdays, evenings, weekends, holidays, or overtime may be required based on event schedules, freight timelines, and operational needs.
