Job description

Description: Truck Driver Training Specialist, Part Time
Reports To:  Truck Driver Training Program Coordinator
Salary Range: $21.50 to $26.88 per hour plus paid leave and other part-time benefits
 




Ability to work primarily evenings, up to 25 hours weekly, with some day classes when needed.  Retired truck drivers encouraged to apply.
Job Summary:   Assist students to prepare for the CDL license examination.  Training topics to be covered include:  driving simulator instruction of driving and backing skills; in truck and backing skills; pre-trip inspection; trip planning; and log books.  CDL Permit preparation includes: general knowledge, airbrakes, combination, tankers, doubles and triples, and hazardous materials.  Bilingual language skills a plus.  
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  1. Conduct classroom CDL training.
  2. Conduct yard and road training.
  3. Ensure training is conducted in a professional manner.
  4. Keep safety a priority at all times.
  5. Inspect equipment and notify Program Coordinator of problems.
  6. Keep driver training log current and accurate.
  7. Match training level to student skill level.
  8. Support student driving and simulator learning.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Class A CDL license and DOT physical
  • At least five years over the road experience
  • Minimum of 60 months of tractor trailer experience
  • Previous training experience
  • Project a professional image at all times
  • Available to instruct day and evening classes
  • Basic computer skills and ability to navigate a web browser
  • Proficient with 10 speed transmission
