Job description

Position Overview
Power your future with Qualus as a Field Construction Safety Specialist in our Construction Management organization. Our Field Construction Safety Specialists monitor and advise construction personnel onsite to ensure safe and successful delivery of electric utility Substation, Transmission line, and Distribution line construction projects. Administer and coordinate a broad scope of Safety services and programs while onsite at electric utility transmission line, distribution line, and substation projects. We develop and continually seek to improve processes and communications that meet the changing needs of site safety and assist in maintaining legal compliance, and promote customer satisfaction through partnerships and problem solving.
Responsibilities
  • Conducts onsite safety observations, provides coaching to field personnel, and communciates with all project stakeholders.
  • Prepares and analyzes reports for a variety of safety programs and ensures compliance with legal reporting requirements.
  • Research information and conducts/participates in survey and data requests; analyzes results and recommends changes.
  • Applies technical knowledge, skills and judgment to solve problems.
  • Research regulatory changes (federal and state) and trends to maintain consistency and compliance with laws, company safety policies and procedures.
  • Strives for continuous process improvement and makes recommendations to align people, systems, and strategies.
  • Has supervisory authority to stop work because of unsafe work practices or conditions.
  • Assists in the investigation and analysis of safety incidents and injuries and develops procedures to prevent recurrence of similar incidents or injuries.
  • Provides Safety and Health services and safety training for assigned internal customer groups.
  • Serves as Technical advisor for safety committees for assigned internal customer groups
  • Conducts safety awareness presentation/training for the public or other outside organizations as needed.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Standard electric utility safety program components.
  • Analytical, interpersonal, problem-solving, conflict resolution, oral and written communication and customer relations skills.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma and minimum of 5 years experience in onsite safety for electric utility substation, transmission, and distribution line construction projects.
  • OSHA Certified
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA Regulations
  • Experience working with limited supervision
  • Strong computer skills, including knowledge and proficiency of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
