Job description

PURPOSE OF THE JOB: Maintain Life Safety Program to meet codes and standards as required by The Joint Commission (TJC), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), and National Fire Protection and Building Code standards.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Pay Grade: P

High School education or Associates Degree in Business Management, Safety, Environmental Health, Engineering, or healthcare field. Six (6) years of healthcare experience required with two (2) years of experience with hospital utility systems and life safety code requirements.

Pay Grade: PP

Bachelorโ€™s degree in Engineering, Safety, Environmental Health, Business Management, or health care field. Four (4) years of healthcare experience required with at least two (2) years of experience with hospital utility systems and life safety code requirements.

Pay Grade: Q

Masterโ€™s Degree in Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Environmental Health, Engineering, or healthcare field. Minimum of two (2) years of healthcare experience required with at least one (1) year of experience with hospital utility systems and life safety code requirements.

  1. Knowledge of The Joint Commission (TJC) accreditation standards, National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and various building codes/standards.
  2. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, make effective decisions, and provide strong leadership and organizational skills.
  3. Self-motivated and able to function effectively within a team environment of internal and external partners.
  4. Excellent writing and communication skills required.
  5. Technical writing experience preferred.
  6. Knowledge of Fire Alarm, Sprinkler Systems and Building Automation Controls preferred.
  7. CAD experience preferred.
  8. Skill & ability to:
    1. Manage multiple priorities and tasks concurrently and meet deadlines.
    2. Collect, analyze, and report data.
    3. Analyze deficiencies and make fact-based recommendations based on findings.
    4. Operate a personal computer utilizing a variety of applications.
    5. Teach others complex topics.
