Job Description:

POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

POSITION: PT Library Assistant - Appalachian Campus

APPLICATION PROCEDURE: For your application to be considered complete, please submit the online application along with a cover letter, resume, and transcript (if applicable). Prior to hiring, candidates will undergo a pre-employment criminal background check, motor vehicle records review, and employer/professional reference verification. After initial screening, additional documentation may be requested.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Under minimal supervision, responsible for daily operation and maintenance of circulation desk. Provides reference and research services to patrons; assists with maintenance of periodical subscriptions; assists with ordering and receipt of library materials. Balances and reconciles accounting records and prepares reports. Supervises and monitors the daily work of student assistants.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma
  • Two years' experience in the library/information field
  • Experience with online databases and Internet research
  • Must be proficient in word processing
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of computers, software, and library systems
  • Ability to do detailed work accurately plus the ability to work both independently and with others
  • Capability to learn and accurately interpret established library procedures and regulations
  • Able to work through constant interruptions and exhibit a friendly, helpful attitude

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: (In addition the minimum requirements)

  • Associate degree or two or more years of college

SALARY/ BENEFITS: Salary is $17 per hour/19 hours maximum; No benefits. Please be aware that all Chattahoochee Technical College employees must be paid by DIRECT DEPOSIT unless exempted by the State Accounting Office based on "hardship" evidence provided by the employee.
