THE OPPORTUNITY
The Part-Time Laborer in Parks & Community Services performs routine grounds and facility maintenance under close supervision. Key duties include cleaning restrooms and park areas, preparing athletic fields, operating small tools and equipment, picking up litter, emptying trash, securing facilities, and assisting with the setup of recreation programs. This position requires working outdoors in all weather conditions and may include weekend or holiday shifts. It offers hands-on experience in park maintenance and support for community services.

IDEAL CANDIDATE
Our ideal candidate is reliable, hardworking, and comfortable performing outdoor physical labor. They follow instructions well, work independently, and provide friendly customer service to park visitors and program participants. The strongest candidates will have previous experience performing similar groundskeeping, landscaping, or facility maintenance work, along with preferred skills such as operating small power tools, using lawn and landscape equipment, and applying safe cleaning practices. This position is not project-based and is not eligible for retired annuitants. Previous experience in landscaping maintenance, especially in the Public Sector, is highly desirable.
MINIMUM AND DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities outlined above is graduation from high school or G.E.D equivalent; prior experience in landscaping or landscape maintenance work is preferred; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
THE CITY
Moreno Valley was incorporated in 1984 as a General Law City, merging the communities of Moreno, Sunnymead, and Edgemont. The City operates under a Council-Manager form of government. The City Council is comprised of an elected Mayor and four Council Members elected by district. The City has a committed customer-service oriented workforce comprised of more than 550 employees who provide a wide-range of municipal services including Public Works, Economic Development, Community Development, Parks and Community Services, Financial and Management Services and Library services. The City contracts with Riverside County for Police and Fire services.

THE SELECTION PROCESS
Applicants possessing the MOST DESIRABLE qualifications at each level, based on a screening of required application materials, including the completed Supplemental Questionnaire, will be invited to continue in the selection process.
