Job description

Archbishop Borders School, located in Baltimore, Maryland, is seeking a part-time Physical Education Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The Physical Education Teacher will provide grade school students a comprehensive academic and physical experience using the Archdiocesan and State of Maryland Physical Education curriculum. She/he is responsible for creating a learning environment that fosters, promotes, and develops an understanding of the relationship of healthy body function exercise, and athletics. This is a part-time 10-month teaching position. This is a part-time position requiring availability two days per week. The scheduled hours are 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Essential Functions
  • Maintains high professional standards consistent with the mission of the school and the teaching of the Catholic Church.
  • Plans and implements instructional programs with clear objectives in line with the Archdiocese of Baltimore and State of Maryland Standards.
  • Creates an instructional environment conducive to learning.
  • Maintains accurate and complete records of students' progress and development, in a timely manner.
  • Teach physical fitness, individual and team sports, utilizing appropriate learning activities.
  • Motivate each student to cultivate physical fitness, and appropriate social and emotional adjustment that discovers and develop talents of students in physical achievement.
  • Communicates standards, achievements, and deficiencies to students and parents through email, phone calls, conferences, and electronic grade book.
  • Responsible for the safety and active supervision of students both in and outside of the classroom.

Position Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • MSDE Certification or the willingness to obtain certification, required.
  • Classroom teaching experience preferred.
  • Proficient in using a variety of technology.
