Job description

The Clinical Laboratory Technologist conducts moderate to high complexity testing on clinical specimens in various areas of the hospital core laboratory department, including hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, immunology, and chemistry. Performs quality control on all tests. Follows-up on out of range results and relays critical values to appropriate teams. Utilizes the laboratory information system (LIS) to document examination results.
  • Bachelor's Degree Clinical Laboratory Sciences or one of the physical sciences -- Chemistry, Biology, etc.
  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience in designated clinical laboratory setting.
  • Current New York State License as Clinical Laboratory Technologist
  • Certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) as Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist - PREFERRED
  • Knowledge of Laboratory Information System -- Preferred
  • Must possess verbal and spatial ability, form perception, finger and manual dexterity and clerical ability.
  • Near visual acuity required for reading results from reports and viewing computer screens
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
  • Ability to read computer screens, procedure manuals and other documents
  • Ability to hear doorbells, alarms, telephone, and other mechanical devices
  • Ability to pass a test for color blindness
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
