Responsibilities

Lab assistants perform the preparation of specimens received for testing in the Laboratory. This includes separating blood components into the appropriate samples for in-house testing and/or send-out testing. They are required to provide courteous and complete responses to inquiries and requests. process mail for specific clients and locations, and to support the Laboratory in maintaining supply inventory.

  • Receive inpatients and outpatients specimens for laboratory testing.
  • Perform separation of blood components into the appropriate samples for in-house testing and/or send-out testing.
  • Provide courteous and complete responses to inquiries and requests via any mode of communication.
  • Processe mail for specific reference labs.
  • Support the Laboratory in maintaining supply inventory.

Requirements
  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
  • 1 Year in Hospital Laboratory or Reference Laboratory Preferred.
  • Typing skills, computer experience, some science education Preferred.
