Description
Patrols designated areas and/or secures assigned station for the purpose of observing, investigating and/or otherwise responding to inquiries, disturbances, emergencies and other routine or unusual incidents involving the college community, visitors, and the public; secures premises and controls pedestrian and traffic access; enforces specific rules and laws as mandated; frequently uses independent judgment in the execution of duty.
Examples of Duties
  • Patrols assigned premises or public areas, securing doors, access routes and properties.
  • Responds to calls, alarms or observed disturbances; assesses nature of incident as medical, fire, or possible violation of municipal, state, federal laws or college regulation and provides assistance in the defense of life and property. As the first responder to medical emergencies, the officer provides first aid, CPR and AED assistance consistent with their training and as appropriate to the circumstances.
  • Alerts superiors, fire, and other proper agencies, as circumstances require.
  • Apprehends and detains suspects, participants, or witnesses to incidents; interviews pertinent parties and make a record of transactions; may have to resort to physical restraint as may be necessary under the circumstances; makes arrest, transports prisoners, identifies and secures evidence.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma or its equivalent.
  • Twenty-one years of age.
  • Possess a current state Driver's License.
  • Successfully pass a criminal background check; Have no criminal record of convictions of felonies or misdemeanors.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment Drug and Alcohol Test.
  • Must have current part-time police officer certification.
