Job description
Nature of Work Under general supervision, this position functions as a member of the maintenance department. Keeps all equipment within the facility working efficiently, including HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems. Responsible for detailed tool and supply inventories.
Will maintain various logs, charts and complete purchase orders for materials used in the maintenance department. May be required, with proper training, to work in asbestos or other environmental issues. Shift work and call back work may be required.
Performs related work as required. May be needed to oversee work crews. Will perform other job duties as assigned by supervisor or superintendent.
Must assist in security post as needed. May be required to work evening/night hours. Minimum Qualifications Training: Graduation from a standard four-year high school or GED or four year apprenticeship program or two year post secondary technical school.
Substitution: Experience in air-conditioning, heating or refrigeration may be substituted for the required training on a year-for-year basis. Experience: Four years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in heating, cooling, ventilation or the mechanical or building trades such as plumbing, electrical, carpentry, plasterer, painter, welder, machinist, mechanic or masonry work. Special Requirement: Specific positions may require certification from a federal EPA approved testing organization as a certified technician required by the clean Air Act on refrigerant recycling.
