Information Technology Analyst (Part-time) - Millennium Space Systems

JobSummary: Millennium Space Systems is hiring five part-time summer analysts to support active initiatives across the IT organization. Each analyst will be assigned to a specific functional area and a specific manager based on project need and candidate strengths. Assignments span software asset and license management, data governance and quality, end-user support and help desk operations, vendor and finance coordination, and general IT project support.
These are scoped engagements with concrete deliverables that conclude within the summer period. Each role offers direct exposure to enterprise IT operations at a defense satellite prime contractor, with mentorship from the assigned manager and visibility into the broader Enterprise Technology organization.

This position's internal job code is Intern-Business-General. Our team is currently hiring for level A.

Position Responsibilities:

Specific responsibilities depend on assignment. Representative work includes:

  • Software Asset & License

    • Management. Inventory enterprise software licenses, reconcile entitlements against active usage, document renewal timelines, and support cost optimization analysis in partnership with IT Finance and Procurement

  • Data Management & Governance

    • Document data fields and ownership across enterprise systems, build data quality checklists and scorecards, audit naming consistency, and produce governance documentation that the team can operate after the summer

  • Help Desk & End-User Support

    • Support Tier 1 ticket triage and resolution, contribute to knowledge base articles, assist with hardware refresh and onboarding workflows, and identify recurring issues for process improvement

  • Vendor & Finance Coordination

    • Track IT vendor contracts and renewals, support purchase order workflows, reconcile invoices against contracted terms, and maintain vendor documentation

  • IT Project Support. Provide structured support to active IT projects: meeting notes, status tracking, stakeholder follow-ups, and documentation (under the direction of the assigned project lead)

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program. Relevant fields include Information Systems, Business, Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, Computer Science, or related disciplines

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel. Comfortable building structured tables, conditional formatting, and basic formulas

  • High attention to detail. Comfortable with reconciliation, auditing, and finding inconsistencies across data sets

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Strong written communication. Able to produce clear, structured documentation

  • Organized and self-directed. Able to manage parallel work streams with light supervision

  • Comfortable asking questions and escalating when something does not match expectations

  • Coursework or project experience in IT operations, business analysis, finance, supply chain, or process improvement

  • Experience building tracking systems or reports in Excel

  • Exposure to enterprise software, ERP systems, IT service management tools, or vendor management at an introductory level

  • Experience working across teams or serving as a liaison between groups with different vocabularies

  • Open to candidates without coding, scripting, or systems administration experience - assignments are scoped to skills the candidate brings

Summary pay range:Level A: $21.15/hr
