Position Summary

The entry level Lab Technician plays an integral role in the process flow of manufacturing, serving as a liaison between quality and manufacturing to ensure that production schedules are met efficiently and effectively. This position coordinates with team members across the organization, from manufacturing to upper management, to facilitate communication and streamline workflows.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Performs chemical analysis, wet and dry, of production and customer samples and administration of the lab quality assurance programs in conformance with ISO 17025 and ISO 9001 Quality Management System requirements.
  • Performs & reviews assays for production and reports results to management, alerting them of any nonconformances.
  • Analyzes and prepares analytical reports for production samples, customer samples, internal sources, etc.
  • Maintains and reports analytical records and results in a timely and orderly manner.
  • Performs daily, weekly, and monthly checks and maintenance of OES spectrometers, arranging for service when required.
  • Performs and maintains quality assurance data (i.e. prior testing verification/recheck, control charts, correlation studies with EAKY).
  • Routinely reviews and proposes revisions to laboratory procedures and WI’s.
  • Maintains assay reporting database.
  • Maintains laboratory supplies inventory.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, or equivalent.
  • Associates degree in chemistry, spectroscopy, or related field preferred.
  • 1+ years of experience in a certified lab environment preferred.
  • 1+ years of experience in metallurgical chemistry and ICP analysis preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of ASTM standards, ISO 9001 & 17025 Quality Management System preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).

Working Conditions

This role requires the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. This role will primarily work in an office setting but it is required to spend time on the plant production floor. This role will require the ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 50 pounds, and will be exposed to varying temperatures.
