Part-time, long-term Weekend Retail Sales Associates are wanted immediately for The Spice & Tea Exchange of Ridgewood, a specialty retail shop that sells spices, herbs, teas, spice blends, rubs, and related products. Position Purpose:
Our retail sales associates play a vital role in our mission of "Creating & sharing the experience of a more flavorful life." Every guest interaction is an opportunity to deliver an engaging and flavorful experience to our guests; many of whom are visiting us for the first time! The Spice & Tea Exchange® of Ridgewood prides itself on operating as a flagship location for our brand and providing opportunities for retail associates to learn and grow in a culinary-centered environment. Retail Sales Associates contribute to our daily store operations and act as our greatest brand ambassadors.

• Maintain solid, accurate, and current product knowledge for all categories by completing product knowledge training and reading applicable publications as directed

Love Connecting with Our Guests
• Warmly welcome customers into our store, provide a brief store tour and invite them to explore the flavors by lifting lids and smelling the products within our jars
• Stay engaged with customers throughout their time in the store, answering product questions and making suggestions for use
• Explain promotions and the benefits our loyalty program • Efficiently use the POS system to complete sales, process gift cards, returns, exchanges and phone orders
Take pride in our store
• Help maintain store appearance by contributing toward daily routines
• Blend and package product as necessary and where applicable
• Price merchandise with labels, SKU's, prices and locations
• Replenish shelves and displays as needed and note low stock levels as per standard operating procedure
• Comply with operating standards and procedures pertaining to the daily operation of the store. Strictly adhere to all Food Safety rules and regulations
• Package product for display as needed and directed by store manager
Knowledge and Job Requirements:
• Proven guest focus
• Excellent verbal and written communication
• Precision in counting and cash handling
• Ability to utilize simple math skills to measure ingredients, read a scale and follow recipes
• Interest in and ability to share knowledge of our many product varieties
• Ability to pivot and remain flexible in a fast-paced environment
• Detail oriented, self-motivated, team player
• Part-Time less than 30 hours per week
• Ability to work a consistent and reliable schedule: weekends. Holidays and days/evenings as available
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to operate kitchen tools and food equipment (Tea Bar)
• Physically able to assemble and prepare merchandising displays
• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time (up to 100% of the time)
• Ability to lift and maneuver inventory; up to 35lbs
• Ability to tolerate spice aromas for long periods of time
