Position Summary
The Driver is responsible for safely transporting residents to appointments, errands, shopping, special events, and other scheduled outings. This role ensures resident safety, comfort, and a positive travel experience, while maintaining the community vehicle in clean and working condition.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive daily/weekly routes to transport residents to scheduled destinations.

  • Assist residents in and out of the vehicle, including use of wheelchair lift and handling of mobility devices.

  • Load/unload oxygen tanks and belongings; ensure safe transport and secure storage.

  • Perform daily vehicle inspections (fuel, oil, fluids, lights, wipers, etc.) and coordinate necessary service or repairs.

  • Keep the vehicle interior and exterior clean and well-maintained.

  • Respond to emergencies following established safety protocols.

  • Engage with residents in a friendly, respectful manner and report any health or safety concerns to management.

  • Assist with community events and activities as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • Minimum 1 year of experience operating a bus or large passenger vehicle.

  • Prior experience working with older adults preferred.

  • Clean driving record (verified before employment).

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to safely operate and maintain passenger vehicles and related equipment.

  • Good physical health verified by a health screening.

  • Compassionate, patient, and respectful when working with older adults.

  • Primarily driving and assisting residents; indoor/outdoor work in varying weather conditions.

  • Must pass a criminal record clearance prior to employment.
