Job Description:
Part-Time Bus Driver:
The part-time position will be a morning and afternoon bus route for the students of Hico ISD. The route will be run each day that the students are in class. The school calendar is located on the Hico ISD website at www.hico-isd.net.
Primary Purpose:
Provide safe, orderly, and efficient transportation of students to and from school and on extracurricular trips.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Must be 18 years of age
Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions
Must maintain an acceptable driving record for school bus drivers as defined by Texas Department of Public Safety
Must be able to pass an annual physical and mental examination as required by Texas Department of Public Safety
Must be able to pass a pre-employment and periodic drug and alcohol screening as required by federal law
Must be able to proficiently read, write, and communicate verbally in English
Experience:
Experience working with children preferred but not required
Experience as a school bus driver preferred but not required
Working Conditions:
Mental Demands:
Maintain emotional control; ability to communicate effectively; ability to maintain effective control over groups of students
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Must be physically able to climb in and out of the school bus emergency door to perform evacuation procedures; continuous sitting, reaching, bending; repetitive hand and arm motions; work outside and inside; moderate exposure to extreme temperatures (heat); exposure to vehicle fumes. Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Requirements:
Background Check
Valid Class B Texas Commercial Driver's License with passenger and school bus endorsements
Current Texas Department of Public Safety School Bus Driver Certification
Possess a CDL license for school bus driving or be willing to attend training for school bus driving certification.
Must be able to pass a CDL bus driving test.
Must be able to pass a DOT physical.
