TxDOT's Beaumont District is looking for an ITS Analyst I to join us in our Traffic Signal Department. As a key contributor to our Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) initiatives, you'll design, refine, and implement the automated systems that keep traffic flowing and communities moving. You'll work independently on meaningful technical projects, collaborate with public and private partners, and help steward the technology that powers our Intelligent Transportation Operations Center. Position Description
Develops and revises new and existing intelligent transportation system(s) (ITS). Performs responsible technical work including the analysis, design and implementation of automated traffic management systems. May be responsible for administering information resources and telecommunication hardware/software located within an Intelligent Transportation Operations Center. Work requires contact with governmental and private entities. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.
Essential Duties:
- Assists programmers with system problems related to flow charts, diagrams, and project design.
- Assists with planning and scheduling the installation and testing of hardware/software and troubleshooting computer/telecommunications related problems.
- Develops ITS which includes writing design documentation and methods, preparing work diagrams and data flow charts, evaluating systems hardware and hardware, analyzing user requirements, testing software and performing field tests.
- Keeps abreast of new technology to improve current and projected systems.
- Prepares and presents demonstrations on ITS.
- Provides technical assistance and supports for ITS.
- Represents the department on ITS related matters.
- Reviews traffic management plans and inspects project sites to ensure compliance with system requirements.
- Serves on committees regarding ITS.
- Provides technical assistance and inspections in the field as needed.
- Performs other job responsibilities as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's Degree in computer science, electrical engineering, telecommunications. Relevant work experience may be substituted for degree on a year per year basis.
Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications:
Experience: 1 year experience in system analysis, design, computer programming. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.
Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver's license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Light work: Lift up to 20 lbs at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 10 lbs
Repetitive motion- substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
Close visual acuity- work includes data/figures; view a computer screen; extensive reading
