How to get insurance with a part-time insurance job?

To get insurance with a part-time insurance job, you typically need to meet the company's eligibility requirements, which may include a certain number of work hours or tenure. Many insurance companies offer employee benefits such as health insurance, but coverage details and eligibility vary by employer and location. Gaining relevant licenses or certifications, like an insurance license, can also be necessary for certain roles.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time insurance agent?

To thrive as a Part Time Insurance Agent, you generally need a high school diploma or equivalent, state insurance licensure, and a solid understanding of insurance products and sales principles. Familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) software, quoting systems, and underwriting tools is typically required. Outstanding interpersonal skills, self-motivation, and the ability to build trust with clients help set top performers apart. These skills are crucial for effectively identifying client needs, providing suitable coverage solutions, and achieving sales targets in a flexible, part-time role.

What jobs offer insurance for part-time insurance employees?

Part-time insurance jobs such as customer service representatives, claims processors, and administrative assistants often include access to health insurance benefits, especially at larger companies or those with employee benefit programs. Part Time Insurance generally refers to roles within the insurance industry that require minimal licensing or credentials, often involving administrative or customer service tasks. Both roles are common in insurance companies and agencies, but they serve different functions and skill sets.

What are part time insurance jobs?

Part time insurance jobs are positions within the insurance industry that require employees to work fewer hours than a typical full-time schedule, often under 30-35 hours per week. These roles can include sales agents, customer service representatives, claims processors, or administrative support staff. Part time insurance jobs offer flexible schedules and can be a good fit for students, retirees, or those seeking supplemental income. They may provide opportunities to gain industry experience and, in some cases, offer benefits such as training or commissions.

What are some common challenges faced by part time insurance agents and how can they be managed?

Part-time insurance agents often face challenges such as balancing client outreach with limited working hours and building a consistent client base. Managing time efficiently and leveraging digital tools for communication and client management can help maximize productivity. Additionally, staying up-to-date with product knowledge and maintaining strong relationships with full-time colleagues ensures better collaboration and support. Networking and ongoing training are also key to successfully growing in this flexible role.

Job description

Client Experience Associate (Insurance)

Part-Time (25 Hours/Week) with Full-Time Potential | On-Site
Merrimac, Massachusetts

Help Build the Future of Insurance.

For more than 30 years, M.K. Sullivan Insurance has helped protect families, individuals, and small businesses across Massachusetts through exceptional local service and trusted relationships.

Today, we're entering an exciting new chapter.

As part of Agent Vista, we're combining everything our clients love about a local independent agency with cutting-edge AI technology that helps our team spend less time on paperwork and more time helping people.

We're looking for someone who's curious, organized, loves working with people, and wants to build a career—not just fill a role.

Whether you're early in your career or looking for a new opportunity, if you're excited by technology and genuinely enjoy helping others, we'd love to meet you.

What You'll Do

As one of the first people our clients interact with, you'll play an important role in delivering an exceptional customer experience.

You'll:

  • Help clients with payments, policy changes, claims questions, and everyday insurance needs
  • Work alongside AVa, our proprietary AI-powered teammate, to complete service requests faster and more accurately
  • Process Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV) transactions
  • Keep client records accurate and organized
  • Answer phone calls and emails with professionalism, empathy, and urgency
  • Collaborate with our experienced team to ensure every client receives outstanding service
  • Learn the insurance business from experienced professionals while helping shape how AI transforms our industry

Requirements

Who You Are

You don't need to know everything about insurance.

We're much more interested in finding someone who is eager to learn, enjoys solving problems, and cares deeply about helping people.

You might be a great fit if you:

  • Love learning new technology
  • Are naturally organized and detail-oriented
  • Enjoy talking with people and building relationships
  • Stay calm and positive when things get busy
  • Take pride in doing things the right way
  • Are dependable, curious, and eager to grow

Insurance experience is a plus—but it's not required for the right candidate.

If you're willing to learn, we'll teach you the insurance business.

Bonus Points If You Have
  • An active Massachusetts Insurance Producer License (or are interested in obtaining one)
  • Previous customer service experience
  • Experience working in an insurance agency
  • Familiarity with Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV) transactions
  • Experience using agency management software or CRM systems
Why This Role Is Different

Most insurance jobs ask you to maintain the status quo.

We're building something different.

You'll join a respected local agency with more than 30 years of history while helping shape what the next generation of insurance looks like.

You'll work with AI every day, learn directly from experienced insurance professionals, and help deliver an experience that's faster, more personal, and more human.

As we continue to grow, there will be opportunities to take on additional responsibility, pursue licensing, expand your hours, and build a long-term career with us.

Benefits

What We Offer
  • Competitive hourly pay ($27–30/hour, depending on experience)
  • Flexible part-time schedule (25 hours per week)
  • Paid training and support
  • A collaborative, supportive, in-person team
  • Modern technology that removes repetitive work
  • The opportunity to grow with a company that's reimagining the future of independent insurance
Our Philosophy

Technology should never replace relationships.

It should make them better.

At M.K. Sullivan Insurance, we believe AI should handle the repetitive work so our people can focus on what matters most: listening, solving problems, and taking exceptional care of our clients.

If that sounds exciting to you, we'd love to hear from you.
