Job description

Manage and take overall responsibility for metrological and calibration (FAC04) needs for site manufacturing which includes but is not limited to:

Management of Metrology Technicians to ensure, efficient usage of time and resources, and compliance with all standards.

Be the process focal for calibration standards including the following local and corporate reporting:

Ensuring the site is adhering to all company standards.

KPI data collection and reporting.

Lead metrology team during all audits to prove standards are being met.

Act as liaison between local manufacturing facilities and parent company directives, etc.

• Instruments:

Ensure that all instruments are calibrated to appropriate standards, such as NIST.

Ensure that all instruments on shop floor are re-calibrated prior to calibration expiration date.

Responsible for critical instruments and some HSE instruments:

Noncritical instruments (for reference only).

Close coordination with maintenance and HSE teams.

• Ensure purchase orders and associated purchasing requisitions, related to metrology, are issued within a reasonable amount of time to ensure in-use instruments do not expire while in-use.

• Anomaly Sheets (out of tolerance or suspect/damaged instruments):

Ensure anomalies are immediately addressed when identified.

Manage proper and limited use of.

When needed, ensure issuance and approval prior to expiration of the currently calibrated instruments.

Track status to ensure anomalies are processed in a timely manner, with no impact on production.

Pareto reoccurring issues and manage associated action plan to reduce.

Identify more frequently occurring anomalies and develop action plans to reduce:

• Ensure Metrology Techs conduct metrological needs per standard industrial safety practices.

• Ensure the site maintains optimum number of spare instruments and that they are available when needed.

• Monitor all devises for obsolescence and propose new technologies / instruments that decrease out-of-tolerance frequencies and improve measurement accuracy, precision and calibration reliability.

• Perform other related duties as required

Skills & requirements:

• Significant experience with metrological needs within a manufacturing environment, with specific knowledge of process instruments.

• In depth knowledge of measurement instruments and associated calibration practices (calipers, micrometers, functional gauges, CMMS, flow meters, pressure meters, temperature measurement devises, humidity measurement devises, conductivity measurement devises, etc.).

• Knowledge of technical process standards, drawings and technology of process and dimensional devices.

• 3rd Party certification in area of calibration and/or metrology preferred.

• Green Belt certification or experience preferred; Required to be GB certified within 3 years of being hired.
