General Statement of Duties
The position is responsible for teaching scheduled water aerobics classes or providing private and group swim lessons to people of all ages and abilities according to standards set by the Dallas Aquatic Center.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Education and Experience:
Water Aerobics Instructor: Graduation from High School with any equivalent combination of education and experience necessary to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position
Swim Lesson Instructor: Knowledge of and ability to demonstrate skills in swim lesson instruction with a logical progression.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to effectively enforce safety and health regulations relating to an aquatic program; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, participants, instructors and the general public; ability to communicate effectively orally and to give and understand oral instruction.

Minimum Qualifications
Water Aerobics Instructor:
  • Current certifications in First Aid, and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer
  • In-House Water Aerobics Certification or other equivalent certification acceptable to the Aquatic Center Supervisor.

Swim Lesson Instructor:
  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • Must be a certified swim instructor; successful candidate will be required to obtain certification through the DAC Lesson Program within 60 days of hire
  • Current certifications in First Aid and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer
