Job description

The Gas Bar Clerk Cashier is responsible to ensure customer service is provided through maintaining a safe and efficient operation while adhering to Company policies, procedures, and standards. The Gas Bar Clerk Cashier will also assist with regular clean up duties to ensure an efficient, safe, and clean Gas Bar is maintained. This position reports directly to the Gas Bar Supervisor/Gas Bar Manager, and the main responsibilities include;

  • Provides customer service and maintains positive customer relations through the proper handling of questions, comments, requests, and complaints. Effectively works in a diverse team environment in a proficient and friendly manner. 

  • Performs all aspects of filling appropriate fuel into vehicles as per Company minimum service standards, filling propane into vehicles and/or bottles as per CF03 propane training course.

  • Performs all aspects of stocking and display functions in an efficient and organized manner. Ensures display presentation and proper stock levels in the Convenience Store are maintained. This may include assisting with the unloading of stock and/or supplies from suppliers' vehicles where required. 

  • Handles merchandise ensuring quality, minimizing damages, markdowns and ensures price integrity including price changes. 

  • Performs general clean-up duties including, but not limited to, cleaning spills, cleaning display fixtures and equipment inside convenience store and out at pump islands, and cleaning washrooms to ensure a neat and organized department. Responsible for keeping the sales floor, back stock area and pump islands clean of cardboard and debris, as well as disposal of garbage.

  • Performs duties following established Occupational Health & Safety, Food Safety and Environmental regulations and policies to ensure the health and safety of all staff and           customers. Follows all rules and regulations regarding the safe handling of workplace hazardous materials.

  • Ensures the proper care, use and maintenance of equipment and tools. Reports repair requirements to the Gas Bar Supervisor, Manager, or Duty Manager.

  • Assists with ordering merchandise and supplies where required.

  • Assists with receiving procedures where required including reviewing/verifying invoices, returns, transfers, claims and proper storage of products.

  • Assist with the organization of, and conducting of, sundry and tobacco inventory takes.

  • Responsible for adhering to all Tobacco and Lottery policies and regulations.

  • Maintains cigarette and stock levels, office filing, and other duties as assigned.

  • Grade 9 or acceptable combination of education and experience

  • Must be 16 years of age 

  • Must be fluent in English (CLBA - Canadian Language Benchmark Assessment score of 5 or higher)

  • Previous retail or related experience

Grade 9 or an acceptable combination of education and experience
Must be 16 years of age
Related retail experience

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Previous retail cashier experience.
Gas Bar experience.
