Position Purpose
Sparrow's Nest employs skilled, dedicated, and compassionate Maternal Bodywork Specialists who provide specialized fertility, prenatal, birth preparation, postpartum, lactation, C-section recovery, bereavement, and therapeutic massage services while creating a peaceful, professional, and healing environment for every client.
Professional Objective: Deliver the most therapeutically beneficial and appropriate massage and body treatments for every client.
Essential Functions
Client Care
• Deliver safe, therapeutic massage sessions tailored to each client's individual needs.
• Provide specialized care for fertility, prenatal, birth preparation, postpartum, lactation, C-section recovery, bereavement, and therapeutic massage clients according to Sparrow's Nest protocols and training.
• Evaluate each client's needs and expectations to determine the most appropriate services, products, and individualized care.
• Perform thorough client assessments and modify treatments as appropriate.
• Educate clients about their treatment, recommend appropriate care plans based on their individual needs, and provide each client with a professional recommendation for the timing of their next appointment.
• Complete treatments within scheduled appointment times while maintaining exceptional quality of care.
• Maintain professional, compassionate, and respectful interactions with every client.
Teamwork & Professionalism
• Collaborate respectfully with fellow therapists, client coordinators, and leadership to provide a seamless client experience.
• Present a professional and respectful demeanor toward clients and coworkers.
• Monitor appointment schedules throughout the day and respond appropriately to schedule changes.
• Participate in staff meetings, continuing education, and team trainings.
• Communicate to management any client or coworker situations requiring attention or follow-up.
• Adhere to Sparrow's Nest policies regarding dress, appearance, professionalism, confidentiality, and client care.
• Demonstrate reliability, accountability, and professionalism in attendance and communication.
Studio Operations & Practice Growth
• Maintain treatment rooms, linens, supplies, equipment, sanitation standards, and studio cleanliness according to Sparrow's Nest protocols.
• Assist with laundry, inventory management, stocking supplies, client follow-up, and other team responsibilities when not actively treating clients.
• Use products and laundry in accordance with company protocols.
• Actively build and maintain a repeat clientele by providing excellent care, educating clients about recommended treatment plans, and encouraging appropriate follow-up.
• Meet service and retail performance expectations.
Qualifications
Required
• Current California Massage Therapy Certification (CAMTC), or ability to obtain prior to employment.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team.
• Customer service oriented with the flexibility to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Emotional self-regulation, professionalism, and strong active listening skills.
Preferred
• Training in prenatal massage or maternal bodywork.
• Experience with fertility, prenatal, postpartum, infant, or bereavement care.
• Additional training in Manual Lymphatic Drainage, Mercier Therapy, infant massage, or other specialty modalities.
• Customer service, retail, sales, or wellness practice experience.

Availability
We welcome applicants interested in long-term positions, temporary opportunities, in-office shifts, house calls, or a combination of both. Weekend availability is especially appreciated.
In-Office Employment Pathway
All in-office therapists begin as temporary employees with a minimum commitment of one shift per week during a 90-day introductory period. This allows both Sparrow's Nest and the therapist to determine whether the position is a strong mutual fit.
Some therapists choose to remain temporary employees by mutual agreement. Therapists who accept a regular part-time position are expected to commit to a minimum of 16 hours per week, including at least one weekend shift (Friday, Saturday, or Sunday). Regular part-time employees become eligible for additional company-sponsored benefits and performance-based incentive programs that are not available to temporary employees.*
House Call Therapists
Therapists providing mobile services must have a reliable vehicle, a valid driver's license, current automobile insurance, and the ability to travel within Sparrow's Nest's designated service area.

*Temporary and regular employees are eligible for all benefits required by applicable law.
