Job description

As a part-time instructor you will provide instruction within our Industrial Maintenance Mechanic program. Courses will be taught in the Blackboard learning management system platform in a lab environment to meet the needs of this growing industry. Instructors need to lead courses that engage and prepare students for careers in their area of study. 


  1. Provide instruction for assigned classes.
  2. Remain current with industry needs and assure graduate outcomes that meet the workplace expectations.
  3. Engage in ongoing student learning assessment to determine effectiveness of instruction and curriculum.
  4. Create a classroom/lab environment that is respectful of diversity and demonstrates a commitment to multiculturalism.
  5. Maintain accurate student records and reports as requested by administrative offices.
  6. Identify students needing assistance and refer students to Student Services. Collaborate with Student Services and the Academic Support Division staff members to help students adjust to the learning environment.
  7. Remain current on developments in the teaching field so that instruction is delivered for a variety of learning styles, uses the latest supportive technology and utilizes alternative delivery methods.
  8. Prepare and update course syllabi (using BTC guidelines) for each course taught.
  9. Assist in the enforcement of college regulations and report student conduct violations to administration.
  10. Hold weekly office hours, and other duties required to meet student, employer, and college needs.

  1. Bachelor Degree or Associate Degree in Industrial Maintenance, Facilities Engineer, Millwright, or related field.
  2. Work Related Experience
    • If Bachelor Degree, 2 years or 4,000 hours of Industrial Maintenance, Facilities Engineering, or Millwright experience. 
    • If Associate Degree, 6 years or 12,000 hours of Industrial Maintenance, Facilities Engineering, or Millwright experience.
