Part-Time Elementary & High School Teachers/Tutors Wanted

Passionate about puns? Excited by literature? Eager to help students succeed in all subjects?

Our hours count–gain valuable teaching experience! Oxford Learning East Vancouver is currently seeking part-time teacher-tutors for roles in our learning centre. If you love working with students, enjoy teaching language skills, and want to help others build their academic confidence, this position is perfect for you.

Position Overview: As a Teacher-Tutor at Oxford Learning, you will have the opportunity to work with Elementary students in reading, writing, math and French and/or with High School students in math (through Calculus), physics, chemistry, biology, and English. Our Teacher-Tutors do not have to worry about lesson planning, as all lessons are pre-planned. You will be fully trained in our proprietary philosophy and methods, allowing you to focus on what you do best – teaching!

Position Requirements

  • Availability Monday-Friday during after-school and evening hours (3:00 pm - 8:00 pm) and Saturdays
  • Commitment through to the end of the 2025/26 school year (June 30th), with the possibility of continuing through the summer

This role is in-person. You must be able to commute to this location. This is not an online position. Relocation packages are not available. Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field
  • University students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered
  • Teaching certification/Early Childhood Educator certificate is considered an asset
  • Good knowledge of the current Kindergarten to Grade 12 BC curriculum
  • Ability to teach multiple subjects is an asset

Experience:

  • At least one year teaching/tutoring experience at a Kindergarten to Grade 12 (or equivalent) level
  • Strong English written and oral communication skills and ability to guide students' understanding
  • The ability to teach French is also highly desired
  • Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time

Responsibilities:

As an Interactive Coach, you will:

  • Teach up to 3 students at a time at different levels
  • Teaching online and in-person
  • Follow the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies
  • Complete daily student communication updates and monthly progress reports
  • Prepare for each lesson by reviewing teaching materials and lesson plans in advance
  • Review and familiarize yourself with the student’s profile, learning goals, strengths, and areas for improvement before each session
  • Maintain a friendly and professional demeanour at all times (create a fun learning environment)
