Description
Join Our Team at Christ Church!
Position: Lighting Engineer Contractor (Part-Time)
At Christ Church, every light has purpose - and every role plays a part in illuminating God's message. When you join our team, you're not just operating equipment; you're helping create powerful worship experiences that inspire, engage, and connect people to faith.
We're looking for a Lighting Engineer Contractor - a creative, technically skilled professional who can design, operate, and maintain lighting systems that bring worship and production environments to life. If you thrive in live event settings and enjoy blending artistry with precision, this is your opportunity to shine.
Why You'll Love Working Here
As our Lighting Engineer Contractor, you'll play a vital part in creating immersive, inspiring worship and event experiences.
  • You'll design and operate lighting that enhances every moment of worship, storytelling, and celebration.
  • You'll collaborate with a talented team of creatives, musicians, and production staff who share your passion for excellence.
  • You'll see your technical expertise bring color, emotion, and focus to each service and event.
  • You'll know your work helps create spaces where people connect deeply with God and each other.

Here, your creativity won't just light a stage - it will help light the way for others.
What You'll Do
  • Design & Execute: Create and operate lighting setups for worship services, recordings, and events that enhance atmosphere and impact.
  • Maintain & Troubleshoot: Ensure all lighting systems and fixtures are fully functional, properly maintained, and ready for live production.
  • Collaborate & Coordinate: Work closely with the Media and Worship teams to achieve seamless visual experiences that align with the creative vision.
  • Program & Innovate: Program lighting cues and effects that support music, message, and mood transitions with excellence.
  • Support & Lead: Assist volunteers and staff during services or events, fostering teamwork and consistency in execution.

Why This Role Matters
Lighting is a vital part of the worship experience - it sets tone, communicates emotion, and draws focus where it matters most. As a Lighting Engineer Contractor, your work ensures that every service and event is seen clearly, felt deeply, and remembered long after the lights fade.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for a Lighting Engineer Contractor - a creative, reliable professional with an eye for detail and a passion for production excellence. If you're skilled in lighting systems and enjoy collaborating to bring artistic vision to life, this is your opportunity to make a meaningful impact behind the scenes.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 1-2 years of experience in lighting design, operation, or technical production (church or live event experience preferred).
  • Proficiency with lighting consoles, programming software, and stage lighting systems.
  • Strong understanding of lighting theory, color mixing, and visual composition.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and occasional special events.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot under pressure and maintain professionalism during live events.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, & Other Characteristics
  • Technical Expertise: You're confident programming and operating lighting systems for live worship, broadcast, and special events.
  • Creative Vision: You understand how lighting enhances mood, focus, and storytelling in every environment.
  • Problem Solving: You can think on your feet and find fast, effective solutions during live services.
  • Collaboration: You work well with cross-functional teams, translating creative ideas into practical lighting designs.
  • Attention to Detail: You take pride in precision and consistency - from fixture placement to cue timing.
  • Dependability: You're reliable, punctual, and prepared, ensuring services run smoothly from setup to shut down.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree or formal training in Lighting Design, Production, or a related technical field.
  • Experience with lighting consoles such as MA Lighting, ETC, or Chamsys.
  • Familiarity with stage design, video, and broadcast integration.
  • On-call flexibility for additional or special events.
