Position Overview

Our Client is seeking a talented Mechanical Engineer / Senior HVAC Engineer to join their growing engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HVAC and plumbing system design for commercial construction projects and will be responsible for leading projects from design through construction support.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for an engineer seeking long-term career growth within a collaborative consulting engineering environment.


Key ResponsibilitiesHVAC & Plumbing System Design
  • Design and model HVAC and plumbing systems for commercial building projects.

  • Prepare engineering calculations, equipment selections, and system layouts.

  • Perform HVAC load calculations and system sizing analyses.

  • Optimize building system performance through engineering analysis and simulation.

Building Information Modeling (BIM)
  • Develop and maintain project models using Revit.

  • Create, modify, and coordinate technical drawings and construction documents.

  • Ensure model accuracy and multidisciplinary coordination throughout project development.

Construction Administration & Quality Assurance
  • Provide QA/QC assistance and engineering support during construction.

  • Respond to RFIs, review submittals, and assist with resolving field issues.

  • Conduct site visits and coordinate with contractors to ensure systems are installed according to design intent.

Project Coordination
  • Collaborate closely with architects, structural engineers, electrical engineers, and other project stakeholders.

  • Participate in project meetings and design coordination sessions.

  • Provide technical guidance and support throughout design, construction, and project closeout.

Client Support
  • Communicate engineering concepts and design decisions effectively to clients.

  • Explain the technical reasoning behind engineering solutions in a clear and professional manner.

  • Support long-term client relationships through responsive service and technical expertise.


Required QualificationsEducation
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

Experience
  • Minimum 3 years of consulting engineering experience with an emphasis on HVAC and plumbing design.

  • Strong experience supporting commercial construction projects.

  • Compensation will be commensurate with overall experience and licensure status.

Professional Credentials
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred.

  • Candidates with a clear path toward licensure are strongly encouraged to apply.

  • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred.

Technical Skills
  • Expert-level proficiency with Revit.

  • Strong experience using HVAC load analysis and design software.

  • Ability to perform engineering calculations and system optimization analyses.

  • Thorough understanding of commercial HVAC and plumbing system design principles.
