Position: Mechanical/HVAC Engineer III (Senior)
Location: Akron, Ohio

Position Overview

Seeking a senior-level Mechanical/HVAC Engineer III to lead complex industrial HVAC design projects across chemical, manufacturing, and industrial facilities. This role requires deep technical expertise, leadership capability, and the ability to independently manage projects while mentoring junior engineers.
Core Responsibilities

  • Lead HVAC engineering and design for complex industrial projects
  • Develop advanced HVAC systems, including process ventilation and hazardous area pressurization
  • Perform detailed load calculations, system analysis, and equipment selection
  • Prepare and review engineering drawings, specifications, and layouts
  • Oversee and ensure quality of work produced by junior engineers and designers
  • Evaluate existing systems and provide strategic improvement recommendations
  • Develop project cost estimates and support project planning phases
  • Conduct field investigations, troubleshoot issues, and validate system designs
  • Coordinate with clients, vendors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams
Preferred Additional Expertise:

  • Dust collection system design (including combustible dust applications)
  • Plumbing systems design (industrial water/wastewater systems)
  • Fire protection system design and hazard analysis
Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • 10+ years of industrial HVAC engineering experience (chemical/manufacturing preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of NFPA, ASHRAE, OSHA, and relevant industry codes
  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD; experience with Revit/Navisworks preferred

Important Requirement
