About the Role:
Housing Advocacy Vocational and Employment is looking for a passionate and dedicated Human Resources Specialist to join our team in Gaithersburg, MD. Responsibilities:
  • Manage full-cycle recruitment, including job postings, candidate screening, interviews, and onboarding
  • Administer employee benefits, compensation, and HR policy compliance
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HR databases in accordance with federal and state regulations
  • Serve as a point of contact for employee relations, conflict resolution, and performance management
  • Support training and development initiatives to foster employee growth and retention
  • Ensure compliance with Maryland labor laws, FMLA, ADA, and other applicable employment regulations
  • Assist with payroll processing and coordinate with finance as needed
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 4+ years of experience in an HR generalist or HR specialist role
  • Knowledge of federal and Maryland state employment laws and HR best practices
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a people-first mindset
