Athena Home Health & Hospice is looking for a part-time Billing Specialist to join our team!

Monday-Friday 11a-4p at our office in Farmington. Remote work not offered. $22 to $24 an hour, depending on experience, with weekly pay.

The billing specialist is responsible for providing oversight of the day-to-day financial operations and office management of the agency.

Education & Experience:

  • At least two (2) years experience in home health of hospice Medicare billing required.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manages all daily Billing operations and accounting information systems including balancing/deposits, Donations Deposits, accounts payable functions, Billing/Invoicing functions and financial reporting.

  • Ensures financial record systems are maintained in accordance with home health and hospice policies and procedures and in compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.

  • Manages an effective accounts payable system.

  • Provides suggestions in strategic financial planning including identifying opportunities for improved fiscal viability.

  • Provides/oversees management of billing practices and assurance of compliance with state and federal regulations, including staying current with changes in regulations.

  • Assists in the preparation of all requested documentation for annual internal and external audits done by Board contracted auditors.

  • Collaborates with and reports to Billing Manager in management of all daily and monthly business financial operations.

  • Provides daily oversight of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and statistical reporting systems.

  • Ensures maximum reimbursement through oversight of efficient billing and collection operations, effective accounts receivable management and a thorough understanding of cost reimbursement principles.

  • Ensure that billing accounts records and reports are maintained in accordance with regulations. Handle account issues as they arise and direct the resolution as needed.

  • Collaborates with the finance director and manager to evaluate financial provisions of proposed service contracts/agreements to optimize financial viability of these.

  • Handle day to day issues and projects as assigned by upper management.

  • Assist with training of new process and employees.

  • Assist and support the billing manager/finance director with assigned duties to provide the highest quality service.
