POSITION

The Department of Mathematics at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Instructional Student Assistant (Grader) Pool.

We welcome applications from current CSUF undergraduate and graduate students in the MATH department to work with individual faculty to grade homework in Mathematics.

This is a pool of Instructional Student Assistant for the department to draw on as necessary.

APPOINTMENTS FROM THE POOL ARE TEMPORARY AND OFTEN MADE JUST PRIOR TO THE START OF THE ACADEMIC TERM. APPLICANTS MAY BE OFFERED EMPLOYMENT ON VERY SHORT NOTICE. 

JOB SUMMARY

Under the direct supervision of a faculty supervisor, the Instructional Student Assistant (Grader) will evaluate student homework and quizzes. Assignments have limited use of discretion and judgment. Work is regularly reviewed and may entail detailed instructions. Other job duties may be assigned by the individual faculty member. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least one recently completed college level course math with a grade of B.
  • Have the contact information for at least one prior college level mathematics instructor.
  • Competency to grade homework and quizzes in assigned math course.
  • Current student at CSUF and is enrolled/registered (fees paid) in at least 6 units in a current regular semester as a new or continuing student.
  • Student who has completed the prior semester (has not graduated), or who is registered for the subsequent semester.
  • In good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation, academic dismissal).
  • Student who is authorized to work in the United States and can provide eligibility documents.

COMPENSATION

All Instructional Student Assistant appointments are made under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU system and the United Auto Workers.  Initial appointments are for one semester only.

Classification Range: $17.86 - $23.86 per hour
Anticipated hiring range depending on qualification, not to exceed $19.00 per hour

The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse And Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083, revised July 21, 2017, as a condition of employment.
