Job Summary:

The Strength & Conditioning Coach is responsible for designing and implementing safe, effective training programs that enhance athletic performance, reduce injury risk, and promote overall student-athlete wellness for students grades 9-12. This role supports all athletic teams and works closely with coaches, athletic trainers, and school staff.


Job Description:

  • Develop and implement sport-specific and general strength & conditioning programs for student-athletes.
  • Teach proper lifting techniques, movement mechanics, and injury prevention strategies.
  • Supervise weight room and training sessions to ensure safety and proper equipment use.
  • Collaborate with head coaches and NWC Athletic Trainer/PT to align training with team goals and competition schedules.
  • Monitor and track athlete progress, including strength, speed, and conditioning metrics.
  • Modify programs for athletes based on age, experience, and injury status.
  • Promote a positive, disciplined, and inclusive training environment.
  • Educate athletes on nutrition, recovery, and healthy lifestyle habits.
  • Maintain and organize strength training equipment and facilities.
  • Ensure compliance with NWC school policies and WIAA athletic association regulations.

Compensation: Stipend of $10,000 per year ($2500/season - summer, fall, winter, spring)


Schedule: This position is expected to average approximately 5–6 hours per week. During Summer 2026, the schedule will be flexible and arranged based on availability and program needs. For the 2026–2027 school year, the role will transition to zero-hour strength training instruction, held Monday through Friday from 7:00 to 8:00 a.m.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications, Skills and Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physical Education, or related field.
  • Certification from a recognized organization (e.g., NSCA-CSCS, USAW, NASM).
  • Possess a First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Model a life of personal commitment to Jesus Christ by exemplifying a lifestyle that honors God and actively participating in a local, Bible-believing church. Must be willing to affirm and abide by the Schools’ Statement of Faith.
  • Previous experience working with high school or youth athletes and ability to motivate and mentor student-athletes.
  • Commitment to athlete safety and development with a strong knowledge of strength training, conditioning, injury prevention principles, and sport-specific training methods.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership and clear, professional communication.
  • Exhibits excellent organizational abilities and time management skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while actively supervising training sessions and able to demonstrate exercises and techniques as needed.,
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull equipment and supplies weighing up to 25–50 pounds.
  • Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and wind.
