And the reach of Arizona's Family doesn't stop with linear television. Azfamily.com is the market's top performer in local multi-platform unique users. It is also home to Arizona's Family Originals. Our in-house original content production team works on several long-form programs, documentaries, docuseries, and original podcasts, including True Crime Arizona, which is nearing 2 million downloads.

Arizona’s Family Sports is home to the state’s premier sports franchises, including the Arizona Cardinals, Phoenix Suns, Phoenix Mercury, Phoenix Rising, and the Arizona Interscholastic Association high school state championships.

Job Summary/Description:

Can you tell a story that stops a scroll and commands a screen? Are you the kind of editor who lives for the adrenaline of a breaking news cycle and knows exactly how to turn raw footage into a powerful, high-impact narrative? Arizona’s Family is looking for a high-energy News Video Editor to join our team in Phoenix. We don’t just "cut tape" here; we craft visual experiences across broadcast, social, and digital platforms that empower Arizonans to live their best lives. If you’re a technical wizard with a creative soul and a "get it done" attitude, we want to see your reel.

Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

What You'll Do:
Craft compelling narratives: Edit high-impact video for daily news, investigative pieces, and special projects across all platforms (TV, web, and social).
Manage the feed: Acquire and route video feeds from satellite, microwave, and backpacks, ensuring our field crews are always ready for air.
Master the workflow: Work closely with the Chief News Editor to keep our content management and archive systems running like a well-oiled machine.
Collaborate in real-time: Communicate with control rooms and field crews with urgency and precision to execute flawless live broadcasts.

What You Bring:
Non-linear expertise: You’re a pro with modern editing software and understand the technical nuances of digital workflows.
News-first mindset: You understand the urgency of a newsroom and can pivot from a breaking news clip to a long-form feature without missing a beat.
Visual storytelling chops: You have an "eye" for great shots and an "ear" for perfect pacing that keeps viewers engaged.
Digital fluency: You understand what makes a video go viral and how to optimize news content for different social platforms.
Grace under pressure: You thrive in a fast-paced, high-stress environment and never miss a deadline (even when the clock is ticking down).
Technical savvy: Familiarity with receiving feeds and managing assets in a content management system.
Team-first attitude: You’re a communicator who lifts the team and is always looking for ways to improve the final product.

Why You'll Love It Here:
Be a part of a powerhouse: Work for Arizona’s most-watched station and a leader in multi-platform innovation.
Real community impact: Your work helps raise millions for local charities and powers movements like our Surprise Squad.
Creative freedom: We value "scrappiness" and digital-first thinking—if you have a great idea for a social edit, we want to hear it.
Growth opportunities: At Gray Media, we focus on the training and development of the best and brightest in the business.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism/Production, Communications, or equivalent experience preferred
• Two years’ experience working as a news video editor in a television news environment preferred
• Strong understanding of non-linear editing
• Familiarity with receiving video feeds from satellite, microwave, backpack, and other transmission sources preferred
• Must be able to work accurately in a fast-paced, high-stress environment while consistently meeting deadlines
• Must possess an understanding of current journalism standards
• Strong technical and organizational skills
